The role
As a Junior Proposal Engineer, we are looking for an enthusiastic candidate with a degree in a commercial or technical field. You will be involved in preparing proposals for our clients, collaborating closely with our Sales team. Together with the sales manager, you will develop winning strategies to deliver the best maritime solutions. In this role, you will be responsible for technical details, cost estimates, and delivery timelines. You will work closely with other departments within Damen to ensure smooth operations.
As a junior, you will have the opportunity to grow in an environment surrounded by experienced professionals who will provide you with the necessary guidance. Additionally, we offer opportunities for advancement into commercial or technical roles within the company.
Key accountabilities
In this role you will be:
- Assist in selecting the most suitable vessel and equipment based on the client's criteria and our range of standard designs and options;
- Consultation with various departments and external parties to arrive at an optimized solution for the client;
- Assist in drafting the general arrangement plan, technical specifications, cost calculations, and delivery dates, as well as other requested documents within the framework of the client’s request;
- Monitor project progress during the pre-sales phase, providing updates and assistance as needed;
- Support the Sales Manager by providing technical input during customer meetings, including presentations and calculations, as required;
- Facilitate knowledge transfer when a tender progresses to an order, ensuring smooth transition and understanding.
Skills & experience
In order to be successful in this role we ask you to bring the following:
- Bachelor degree in line with this vacancy;
- Preferably a few years relevant work experience;
- Affinity with proposal automation software (SAP, Salesforce, e.g.);
- Excellent communication skills in English and Dutch is a pre.

- Able to influence and be persuasive, put things into perspective;
- Keen on time management and able to prioritize;
- Customer-oriented;
- Well able to manage expectations;
- Willing to occasionally travel abroad.
