The role

Are you ready for a challenging and innovative job to make the difference from strategic innovation perspective? We are searching for a Corporate Venturing Manager!

As Corporate Venturing Manager you actively support the Corporate Venturing Unit (CVU) in scouting, investing and growing highly innovative startups and scale-ups. You will be part of a small specialized team, reporting directly to the Head of Corporate Venturing. With the team, you are responsible for evaluation, selection and execution of startup investment opportunities. You will do this in close cooperation with top management, Damen Divisions and multi-disciplinary projects teams. The CVU actively manages multiple startups and focusses on integrating startup innovations within the Damen group.

Within this role, you need to have great stakeholder management skills and you need to be able to operate on all hierarchical levels. You are responsible for creating valuable and creative links between business opportunities and technological advancements

Key accountabilities

To support and manage the process that leads to strategic innovation integrating, start-up investments and startup growth, we expect you to be able to:

• Analyze and monitor strategic decisions making and technical developments;
  Focus on and be responsible for filling the deal flow funnel;
• Do analysis of startup in terms of innovativeness, performance and market traction;
  - Perform extensive due diligence and internal business alignment assessments;
  - Assist in / perform negotiations that lead to a successful investment;
  - Coordinate all activities on legal, accounting and financial matters;
  - Develop an investment proposal including development path;
  - Actively support/ manage startup innovation projects;
  - Manage/ support the growth path of the startup.

In addition to the above described main tasks, the Corporate Venturing Manager is actively involved in:

• Researching market and technology trends together with the Investments and Technology analysts;
• Supporting and managing internal information and tracking systems;
• Support in internal and external communications and event management;
• Coordinate together with the team and EB / Division management new opportunities and start-ups that help Damen to create new value chains;
• Assist in monthly progress reports and Investment Committee approval memo’s;
• Assist with deal process from A to Z, maintain & update transaction templates and further professionalize the Corporate Development function.

Skills & experience

• Bachelor/Master degree in Business Economics or other relevant education linked to the field of Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship;
• 4 to 7 years or more relevant working experience;
• Affinity with the maritime industry or technical related industry in general;
• Experience with and/or network in startup ecosystems and investment sector;
• Legal knowledge and contract management skills;
• Strong intrinsic interest in technology and related (market) developments;
• Project and/or investment management skills a pre;
• Team player: flexible and able to work in a small team within a dynamic work environment;
• Good verbal and written communication skills in Dutch and English.
